Kanchanjungha TrekkingKanchanjungha (8586 m) - the third highest mountain in the world, as the queen of the Great Himalayas stands on the Nepal- Sikkim border high above rhododendrons and large forests with rivers pouring from its sides. Nepal opened the Kanchanjungha region to trekkers in 1988, though people have trekked in the area in connection with mountaineering expeditions since the turn of the century. One of the most remote and beautiful areas in Nepal which, unused to foreign visitors, sill lies shrouded in mystery. The feature of the walk are pleasant villages then in the high regions, glorious mountains and abundant wild life. This includes musk deer, blue sheep and for the believer, the Yeti! This trek begins at Tumlingtar or Taplejung accessible by air, or Ilam or Basantpur accessible by road. Soaring peaks, the Yalung Glacier and a wide variety of natural vegetation and agriculture areas can be seen in this region and magnificent views of Mt. Everest, Makalu and Kanchanjunga massif will make the trip memorable.

On the trip you will be able to study the culture and lifestyle of Rai and Limbu communities. For a trekking trip to the north base camp at Pangpema 5140 meter, taking flight from Kathmandu to Biratnagar then drive Biratnagar to Basantapur and trek to Kanchanjungha North Base Camp and return to Taplejung by the same route, then flying back to Kathmandu from Taplejung takes minimum 23 Days.
